They use locally sourced, sustainably harvested leathers, farmed exotic skins, and rough cut precious stones set in brass.
All of their pieces are made at our Lagos, Nigeria, studio by a team that uses traditional techniques passed down through generations by a community of local artisans.
Zashadu enjoys exploring the tension between quiet elegance and outright glamour.
To give precedence to the leathers, we avoid the use of superfluous fittings and fixtures.
Zashadu's Creative Director is Zainab Ashadu. She has a varied background that includes art curation, architecture, acting, and fashion styling.
Ashadu began her career as an actor in London before transitioning into architecture, where she investigated the spatial relationship between geometry and fluidity. Her love of handbags began when she was eight years old, when she fell in love with her mother's clutch bag. She later honed her skills at the London College of Fashion.
Zainab currently resides and works in Lagos, Nigeria.
